Membership and Benefits

Our members represent registered nurses and other health care professionals who are actively engaged in or primarily interested in neurosurgical or neurological nursing. Our members particpate in planned programs and activites of the chapter and the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses. By partipating and sharing information and expereinces, we hope to promote growth and imporvement of practices in the neuroscience nursing field.

Membership Categories

  • Active Members - Registered Nurses maintaing an active license who are actively engaged in or primarily interested in neuroscience nursing.
  • Student Member - Individuals currently enrolled in an entry level nursig program which leads to eligibility for the NCLEX examiniation upon graduation. This student must also be interested in neuroscience nursing. The student dues are 50 percent of the dues required for regular members. A student members may not vote, hold elective office or serve as committee chairs.
  • Associate Member - Open to non RN health care professionals, such as Licensed Practical Nurses, who participate in the care of  neuroscience patients. Associate members may note vote, hold elective office or serve as committee chairs.
  • Senior Member - At age 60, and after 10 years of consecutive membership, an  active member may choose to become a senior member. A senior member may continue to participate on committees, retain voting rights, may hold office, and need not pay dues.
  • Honorary Membership - Honorary membership may be conferred upon individuals who have rendered distinguished service or leadership to the chapter or those who have make unique contributions to the field of neuroscience nursing. Chapter members given honorary membership will retain all privledges of membership. Other given honorary membership may not have voting or office holding privledges but may serve on special committees. Honorary members will not be required to pay dues. Nominations for honorary members must be proposed in writing, signed by four voting members and submitted to the board of directors for review and approval at the mid-annual board meeting. The nominations will then be approved by the board at the mid-annual meeting. The nominee's name shall then be placed on the election ballot maied to all voting members prior to next annual meeting.
